The message
The ExploHeidelberg is an interactive centre with scientific
education where children, adults, teachers and scientists
can experience basic scientific phenomena in a
new playful way.
Schools, research locations and business are working together
hand in hand at this institution to make science understandable,
exciting and challenging, in order to effectively strengthen
the spirit of innovation, research and development.
The ExploHeidelberg uses its bonds at building
bridges within Heidelberg by using existing networks and
developing
new ones.

The location
Heidelberg and the Rhine-Neckar region is a worldwide renowned
centre for science, research and technical innovation.
There is a wide spread range of facilities for science (University
of Heidelberg, German Cancer Research Centre, European Laboratory
for Molecular Biology, Max-Planck-Institutes, University
of Education, and others).
Big, well-known companies develop new technologies (Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG, Henkel Teroson GmbH, SAP Deutschland AG
und Co. KG, SAS Institute ...).

The idea
The idea of the ExploHeidelberg aims at creatively convey
scientific phenomena and knowledge in a way that can be understood
imediatly. To this end, and supported by learning programmes,
it uses a scientific exhibition, a media laboratory and
a learning laboratory with interactive exhibits and experiments.
The location almost perfectly connects
science, business and schools: the Technology
Park Heidelberg
in the Neuenheimer Feld, near the campus of the University
of Heidelberg with all its facilities and the German Cancer
Research Centre.

All
together ExploHeidelberg is an interactive exhibition with
changing topics and exhibits, a media laboratory with 24
workstations
for pupils, a learning laboratory with 16 workstations
for both younger and older children and a shop.
